PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE
As a credit union, we are committed to doing what is best for our community. It's part of our guiding principle, "People helping people". When you partner with us you partner with our community too!
WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO THIS YEAR!
Through donations from our members and volunteering from our employees, we have proudly been able to support several local charities and organizations.
During the month of July, our credit union came together to help students in ASD's Child-in-Transition Program get geared up for a successful school year! Thanks to all of our members who donated and helped make this happen!
TAKE A HIKE FOR CHUGACH PARK
A new initiative this year was our 'Take a Hike' campaign benefiting the Chugach State Park! In addition to raising $1,500, community members shared incredible photos that helped raise awareness about the Chugach Park Fund and hopefully inspired others in our community to take a hike and enjoy our beautiful state!
COLOR FOR A CAUSE
We had a blast during the month of May and raised money for the Alzheimer's Resource of Alaska. Together, we raise $3,700 and made social media a little brighter with over 70 coloring pages entered into our coloring contest!
DOUBLE BENEFIT: AWAIC & STAR
What's better than supporting a local charity? Supporting two local and very deserving charities! In April we raised money for AWAIC whose mission is, "To provide domestic violence safe shelter, intervention, and prevention." After a month of raising donations, a group of our staff members joined members of our community at STAR's masquerade event.
During the month of March, the credit union took an intentional focus on 'INCLUSION'. Staff came together and pledged to help spread inclusion in our workplace and in our community so that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are not left out! Along with the pledges we raised $1500 for the Special Olympics of Alaska!
PACK THE PANTRY
During the month of February, our staff rallied together to support Baxter Elementary's Food Pantry. The educators of Baxter Elementary astounded us with their commitment and dedication to help families in dire need in their community by creating a food pantry for families after realizing that there was a need for food. During the school season, they stock the pantry with the help of donations of food items for children and families to take home.
YOUTH WINTER WARM-UP
In January, with the help of our members, we had a "smashingly successful donation" as mentioned by Covenant House Sustainability Officer, Jessica Bowers. She went on to say, "Because of your graciousness and the generosity of your customers, hundreds of young Alaskans will receive the food, shelter, and unconditional love that they deserve. Thank you again Northern Skies Federal Credit Union community!
